Darwin Discovery Days
Darwin Discovery Days is all about exploration, discovery and connecting with the natural world. Across the spring programme, participants explore native bush, coastlines, waterways and diverse landscapes while developing practical outdoor skills, resilience and confidence. From navigating forest terrain to riding trails and discovering local ecosystems, each experience encourages curiosity, adaptability and a deeper appreciation of the environment.

Waitakere Ranges
Participants demonstrate independence, resilience, and adaptability in a remote island environment.
Tuesday
Day 2
Duder
Participants practise teamwork and land-use interpretation in a culturally significant coastal landscape.
Wednesday
Day 3
Hunuas
Participants learn water safety, navigation, and decision-making in dense forest terrain.
Thursday
Day 4
Ambury & Mangere
Participants explore urban ecology, land restoration, and human–environment interaction.
Friday
Day 5
Woodhill & MTB
Participants develop balance, trail awareness, and controlled speed management in sand terrain.
5-DAY STACK
Make it a full spring camp experience
Turn five days of outdoor adventure into a complete camp experience, with the group staying together, enjoying shared meals and getting a few days away from home. Stay at Ambury with glamping accommodation and spend the week exploring bush, coast, waterways and trails.

Participants practise navigation, coastal ecology awareness, and group leadership in open bushland.

Participants combine historical interpretation with bushcraft and leadership challenges.

Participants apply logistics planning, island navigation, and self-sufficiency skills.

Participants manage variable terrain, water hazards, and environmental observation.

Make it a full spring camp experience
Make the most of the week with a full camp experience—staying together, sharing meals and spending several days immersed in the outdoors. Stay at Shakespear and explore islands, bush, coastline and challenging natural environments away from the usual school-holiday routine.
